December 10

WINTER CONCERT DATE!!!!!!!!!!!                  
There was a calendar mix up!!
The Winter Concert is on MONDAY, DECEMBER 10 at 7 p.m. at Rincon Mountain Presb. Church on Tanque Verde Road (north side of the street)
Students IN BAND, ORCHESTRA, STEEL DRUMS AND CHIMES should arrive by 6:30 p.m. CASES WILL BE STORED IN THE ROOM TO THE WEST OF THE "STAGE" FOR THE DURATION OF THE CONCERT.
CONCERT MANNERS: EVERYONE SHOULD BE STAYING FOR THE WHOLE CONCERT - NOT JUST THEIR PORTION!!
Orchestra students should find me to get instruments tuned!
CONCERT DRESS UNIFORM;
BLACK dress pants (no denim) - Dockers are fine.
Black dress shoes/socks
Solid WHITE-collared shirt (long or short sleeved)

BAND;BOTH BANDS WILL BE COMBINING ON MONDAY AND THURSDAY FOR THE REST OF THIS SEMESTER!! We will be MARCHING in the Holiday Lights Parade (downtown) on Saturday, Dec. 15. Parade is at 6:30. We will need to arrive no later than 4:30....Judging is AT 5:30 - SO - PLEASE PLAN ON ARRIVING BETWEEN 4:30 - 5. CARPOOLING IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED, NOTES ARE GOING HOME ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 10 WITH THE PARADE ROUTE, ETC.
PRACTICE YOUR INSTRUMENTS SO WE SOUND FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!
Our "UNIFORM" for this night is; Plain, Red Sweatshirt, Blue jeans, comfortable gym shoes (any color), fingerless gloves - if you would like (can usually find them in the dollar section - also at KMart), and a Santa Hat.
I will need some parents to walk with us in the parade and be WATER PARENTS. I have some spray bottles filled with water and you just squirt it in the player's mouth - no spreading of germs! Let me know if you can help.
CHIMES; We will be playing at Reid Park Zoo's ZooLights on Thursday night, December 13. We must arrive at the Zoo by 5:45 and play from 6-8. Meet at the front gate.We will wear our black pants, comfortable shoes (we will be standing for 2 hours), PLAIN, RED SWEATSHIRTS, Santa Hats would be great, and gloves might be needed. We need EVERYONE to be there so we can sound great and be great ambassadors of our school! Performers get in free, but everyone else needs to pay the Zoolights fee. We are performing on the Main Stage.

CHIMES WILL PRACTICE ON THURSDAY MORNING (THEY VOTED ON THIS)

NO ORCHESTRA OR STEEL DRUM REHEARSAL UNTIL JANUARY!!




5TH grade - working on their concert music. The fifth grade has their concert on December 17 at 2:15 in the MPR. It should be about 35 minutes in length. Students should wear their usual school attire. NO HOMEWORK THIS WEEK OR NEXT WEEK.

6th Grade; Learning songs with the new F#.
NO HOMEWORK THIS WEEK OR NEXT WEEK.

7th/8th grade
Watching the movie, "Annie", which will be our school musical in the spring. Auditions will take place in the beginning of January. Students will get sign up forms this week - due next week - if they are interested. Those interested need to prepare a vocal solo from a BROADWAY show about 3 minutes in length. It does not need to be memorized (helpful, though) and it can be done with or without CD accompaniment.
TUESDAY - homework - due on Thursday.
